Hotel Direct Quality Control

My mom used to own a hair salon in Anaheim, not too far from Disneyland. In some ways, it was my first job. I was merely in elementary school, but while I was there, I helped sweep hair, answer phones, make appointments, even sell products.
I don’t remember exactly what the prices were, but I remember one time a lady gave me a hard time for the price of the shampoo she inquired about. Looking back, I wonder why she thought a seven year old would have anything to do with the pricing of products, but I digress. She told me she could get the same thing at the grocery store for less than what we were charging. I didn’t know any better so I said OK and sent her along her away, no shampoo in hand.
After she left, I asked my mom why we don’t just buy the product from Albertson’s ourselves, if it’s cheaper. I was told that it wasn’t the same and that it’s better to buy direct than from a grocery store. I, being seven, didn’t get it.
Years later, I’m working at Peet’s Coffee & Tea and I get the same question again. We sold our Major Dickason’s Blend at around $15/lb. while it’s available at the grocery at about $10/lb. Why?
The answer, in two words, is quality control.
When you buy coffee from Peet’s *at* a Peet’s store, Peet’s has a hand in the quality control all the way up until the point of purchase. When you buy it from the grocer, Peet’s relinquishes control the moment the grocer receives the product. That means everything from how the beans are handled to how they are stored may not be the tightest of qualities.
Did you know that the best condition for your coffee beans to be stored is away from air, light, and moisture? I’ve too often seen coffee beans being on display in the harsh lights of a grocery store, next to the freezers, causing the quality of the beans to be reduce dramatically. Maybe the avid coffee drinker wouldn’t be able to tell, but for someone like me who drinks and actively tastes coffee every day, that slightest exposure would dramatically affect my drink.
As this pertains to Ramada Maingate at the Park, we too believe in quality control. Part of my job, along with other managers here, is to inspect 10-20 rooms each, every month. This is more than just housekeeping turning the room over for the next guest. We inspect every detail of the room, from nicks on the furniture to frills and tears in carpet. Frankly, the process is kind of a pain, but at the end of the day you, our guests, benefit from it.
We don’t just care about the quality of the rooms, we care about your entire experience from the moment you book your stay.
I did a Google search for ‘Ramada Maingate at the Park’ a couple of weeks ago and was completely blown away by how many results showed up. I found the most random websites that no one here has even heard of. Some of them looked like they hadn’t been updated in a decade. And yet somehow, if you wanted to, you could book a room with us through them. How’s that for quality assurance?
We maintain that the best way to stay up to date with our current, and sometimes exclusive, deals and offers is through our Facebook, Twitter and website, in December we even gave away free room nights to our friends on Facebook and Twitter! So book directly with us to take advantage of all our specials
